Job description:
our server management unit provides 7/24 support people on globally installed servers by installing and maintaining the base operating system. This includes standard software levels, system parameters, and diverse operation system version levels.
Services include: associated file systems, log files, problem determination and problem resolution, additional software, administration tools, utilities, security, and hardware components, processed via specific protocol’s.
Administrative tools are installed to allow support to be provided, locally and from a remote location. Standard problem and change control processes are followed.
Typical activities:
Installation
Server operating system, system management software and operating system utilities
Applying system patches and upgrades, including clustering and backup and restore operations
Management and Maintenance
Operating system configuration, file systems, print queues, log files
Maintain system ID’s and domain structure, including hardware configuration
Monitoring
Log files, health checks and security scans and provide trend reports on cpu, ram, hdd sys logs usage
Advice, support and counseling
Evaluate planned changes, execute health check and prepare trend reports
Prepare recommendations on operation system updates, configuration and reporting
Inform colleagues, management and customer contacts
Overall supportive and proactive approach on all jobs role related topics
Required:
Bachelor's Degree
At least 3 years experience in AIX/UNIX
English: Fluent
Preferred:
Master's Degree
